New North Career Pathways

New North Wisconsin Career Pathways is a regional coalition of representatives from CESA 5, CESA 6, CESA 7, CESA 8 and New North, a non-profit economic development corporation. Working together to support schools and school districts throughout 18 counties in Northeastern Wisconsin, the New North Career Pathways collaboratively provides means for students to participate in and complete a pathway.

What are Career Pathways?

Part of an initiative by the state of Wisconsin’s Department of Public Instruction (DPI), there are seven different pathways with various career offerings depending upon the post-graduation direction. Designed to reflect the vision of employers, the school district and workforce development, career pathways align classroom education with hands-on experience.

Students who participate in a career pathway work with their school advisor to establish a class schedule that includes academic work in their industry and allows them to spend part of their day working alongside a mentor in an area company applying what they learned.

With a variety of industry career pathways to choose from including business administration, construction, digital technology, education, health care, manufacturing and energy, participating students not only earn dual credits and gain hands-on experience, but they may graduate from college sooner, build a network in their career field, and earn industry-recognized credentials and certifications.
